North Sydney Council: Solar Case Studies for the Sustainability Program

North Sydney Council runs a Sustainability Rebates Program, helping households, strata buildings, and businesses across the area take up solar and other energy-saving upgrades. The program had strong community demand, but the council needed a way to show real results, not just numbers, but proof that switching to solar actually worked for people like them.

We produced case study videos to do exactly that. Each one followed a real North Sydney household or building through their solar journey, why they made the switch, what the process looked like, and what it meant for their power bills and their home. Instead of talking at the community about renewable energy, the videos let real residents do the talking.

The goal was to make solar feel achievable, not abstract. Seeing a neighbour’s rooftop, hearing their actual savings, and watching the process unfold in a place people recognised did more to build trust than any brochure could.

The case studies became a tool council could point to directly, proof drawn straight from the community, in the community’s own words.
